Pure-Bore® drilling fluids reduce the carbon footprint of surface drilling by minimising product consumption, reducing cuttings waste volume and increasing water recycling. Pure-Bore® product solutions provide a combination of viscosity with encapsulation and wellbore stabilisation. Bio-degradable Pure-Bore® products substitute for large volumes of mineral products and synthetic polymers which are prevented from environmental release or accumulating in landfills. The water table is protected by Pure-Bore® as one of a small number of products allowed to be in contact with drinking water sources in the UK and EU.
Intermediate Hole Section
Pure-Bore® drilling fluids reduce the carbon footprint of overburden drilling by minimising product consumption, cuttings waste volume and increasing water use efficiency. With de-watering and screening solids control equipment, re-use efficiencies of up to 75% have been achieved on land wells in mainland Europe. Bio-degradable, non-toxic product solutions provide a combination of viscosity with encapsulation and wellbore stabilisation while increasing hydraulic efficiency. Significant volumes of mineral products and synthetic polymers are replaced with reusable brines and just two bio-degradable products. Pure-Bore® is ideally suited to drilling mud formulations that can be safely biodegraded by land farming techniques, preventing landfill accumulation. High performance Pure-Bore® fluids with shale stabilisers further reduce environmental impact and carbon footprint when they are employed to replace the historical use of Oil-Based Muds.
Producing Reservoirs and Injection Zones
Pure-Bore® drilling fluids reduce the carbon footprint of reservoir drilling by minimising product consumption, replacing single use fluids and increasing hydraulic efficiency of slim hole drilling. The makeup of Pure-Bore® reservoir products enhances the effects of enzyme-based filter cake breakers, allowing higher return permeabilities and production in open hole and gravel packed completions. This enables greater injectivity/production for lower capital expenditure, saving resources which can be re-assigned to social and economic infrastructure.
Reservoir Completion Operations
It has been observed in the deep drilling industry that long-chain polymers such as xanthan gums and poly acrylamides reduce the frictional pressure drop in narrow pipes such as coil tubing. This is used to advantage by completion operators when pumping solids free fluids through smaller diameters such as coil tubing. Pure-Bore® products have similar if not superior effects on reducing pressure loss in turbulent flow and therefore surface pumping pressure. As well as pressure loss reduction, Pure-Bore® products provide chloride, cement and calcium resistance as well as stable rheology properties up to 140°C when combined within formate brine bases. Such properties are maintained while the fluids remain fully bio-degradable and non-toxic.
