Clear Solutions has developed the Pure-Bore® range of oilfield products to serve as the basis for the next generation of High Performance Water-Based mud systems – HPWBM. Pure-Bore® chemistry is possible due to the extensive research conducted by Clear Solutions in the coupling of natural polymeric materials with cutting-edge modern chemistry. The Pure-Bore® family of products have been designed specifically as highly effective multi-functional additives. Consequently, a single Pure-Bore® product can reduce, replace and out-perform additives such as Xanthan, PAC, Starch and PHPA used within conventional drilling fluid systems.
The Pure-Bore® drilling fluid additives provide superior shear thinning rheology paired with drag reducing characteristics, allowing lower ECDs, pump pressure and optimised hydraulic horsepower at the bit. This rheology has further benefit in providing improved hole cleaning and increased ROP’s in both large and small diameter and long lateral sections.
Pure-Bore® chemistry is tailored to form an effective, non-invasive, low friction filter cake. This aids in stabilising formations and reducing the risk of both differential sticking and significant torque and drag. Pure-Bore’s specific interactions with solids provide additional benefit in the form of an encapsulating effect on clay. This effect helps in reducing the risk of shale induced hole instability and poor cuttings integrity.
The improved cuttings integrity observed using Pure-Bore® fluid additives has significant operational and economic benefits. A more cohesive drilling cutting will be removed from the hole more efficiently due to a larger particle size. This larger particle size, when combined with the minimal screen blinding tendencies of Pure-Bore® fluids allow finer shaker screens utilisation. The economic benefits of a smaller screen size are lower mud consumption and reduced waste disposal costs for the operator.
Pure-Bore® chemistry is compatible with a wide range of commonly used oilfield chemicals and it can be used in a wide density range of monovalent and divalent brine types.
